Welcome Back To The Kid Lit Blog Hop
Today I would like to showcase a wonderful book by a friend of mine.
Description:
Answering the question Why is Sam different?,
this heartwarming story tells of the challenges of living with Asperger
Syndrome, a form of autism. This firsthand view of the life of an
undiagnosed child presents behaviors and characteristics that are common
among children with this disorder. Sam doesn't like his pancakes to
touch, his sister is annoyed with his repetitive song, and his new
coat hurts his skin, but once he is diagnosed, teamwork-based
support helps Sam's life become a little easier. With endearing
illustrations, the book includes 10 helpful tips geared toward children,
showing them how to respect and accept differences as well as to
interact with a classmate or friend with Asperger Syndrome.
My thoughts:
I had the pleasure of hearing the book read by the author Leizl and it was just beautiful. The illustrations are stunning, ( by the author's mum). The aim of the book is to educate children who are not affected by Aspergers. To help them to understand the reasons, difference and challenges that children with aspergers face. I loved hearing this book read, not just because it is a wonderful way to help children understand, but because of the passion my friend has for helping kids to journey along the path of life together, with or without aspergers.
Hop on over to Amazon to check it out and happy hopping folks
Welcome to the 15th Kid Lit Blog Hop. The Kid Lit Blog Hop takes place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. We have managed to create a dynamic and engaged community of children's books bloggers, authors, publishers, and publicists, as well as parents seeking out their next great read. wow...that's a great book, definitely a resource to all parents. While I teach my son that we are all different and special, reading helps him understand better.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
I know, it is very important to me to foster a message of empathy and acceptance in all that I teach Gigi, so this will be great for the future. Thanks for dropping by.
DeleteFirst, your link wasn't working miss! ;) It's all better now! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous book - I think that more kids are being diagnosed with Asperger's so it's really great to have resources available to parents and children to help understand this syndrome a bit better.
Cheers to your friend (and her Mom)!
Thanks for linking and hostess-ing the Kid Lit Blog Hop. Sorry, I'm not sure I could work a semi-colon into there! lol
Head in hands, I did try all 3 options to get it to link and thought I had been successful, sigh. Thanks for fixing it and for stopping by.

DeleteThank you SO much for highlighting this book, Julie. My cousin has Aspergers, and it was difficult understanding how to act with him while growing up. At 21, he is a high school graduate, works a full-time job, makes great money, and is a very happy guy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting yet again!
Thanks for stopping by Jaymie. Thanks so much for telling us about your cousin, that is really encouraging to know. Cheers Julie
DeleteI'm always so pleased to see quality books on this subject. When I was a nanny, one of the children I looked after had Asperger Syndrome. It's still very misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteSo glad my books were picked up in this linky set from another posting. Just want to share the blessings with as many as possible.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Vera. We enjoy your reviews very much, cheers Julie
