We are so excited to finally unveil our

Little Free Library

What is a Little Free Library?

It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too!

So how did we get involved you are wondering.

My friend Nicole, an awesome aspiring author introduced me to her Little Free Library during a cyber workshop we were both participating.

The idea just stuck with me and I have been wanting to do it ever since.

Well, of course, my dad who is super handy, was on the case.

So far the locals seem a bit miffed about it, so I might have to put an explanation sign up, lol.

We hope to share books with our community to demonstrate the importance of literature in every walk of life.

Happy hopping folks.

Kid Lit Blog Hop & Linky Party Rules *Please Read*

1. LINKY PARTY: Add the link to your Twitter profile page in the Twitter Linky Party list below. Be sure to visit at least the two links directly before yours, say hello and retweet a post and follow folks as per your interests. If you do not have a Twitter profile, you are welcome to link up a different social media profile (Pinterest, Facebook, etc.). 2. KID LIT BLOG HOP: Link up any Kid Lit related post in the Kid Lit Blog Hop. This can be a link to a children’s book review, a discussion about children’s literature/literacy, or a post on a recently-read children’s book or one that you love from your childhood.
* Don't link directly to your blog, it must be a specific post.*
* For Authors, we prefer you to link to your blog if you have one. Please link unique posts each time ~ no repeats please. *
* Make sure you include an image relevant to the POST (e.g., book cover), not your blog button or photo of yourself.*
* Feel free to link more than one post.*
3. KID LIT BLOG HOP: Please visit AT LEAST the TWO LINKS from the Kid Lit Blog Hop directly ahead of your own and leave them some love in the form of a comment. We are trying to build a community of bloggers, readers, parents, authors, and others who are as passionate about children’s literature as we are so please CONNECT and follow any or all of the blogs that interest you! 4. If you like, grab the button above and put it somewhere on your blog, preferably the post you're linking up. If you'd prefer, you can just add a text link back to this Hop so that others can find it and check out all these great book links! 5. It would really help us get the word out about the Kid Lit Blog Hop if you would be so kind as to tweet, share, and spread the word about the Hop!

Happy Hopping!

  2. I would love to have a Little Free Library, I'm not sure that it is very widespread in Germany although I know several people in the UK that have one.

  5. What a fabulous idea! I haven't heard of the Little Free Library before and if our local library wasn't just 200m up the road, I'd be very tempted (my husband is probably saying 'phew' at this point :-) ) - I hope your neighbours realise what they now have on their doorstep!

  6. I love the idea of the little free library!! My daughter, since she was at least 4, has always wanted to make a library out of all her books, and this might just be a great way to go about it. I have to read more and see how we're going to go about doing it (living in LA, it might be a little daunting), but I'm sure we can figure it out.

  7. Sorry to hear that people seem "miffed" about your library. I wonder why. Little Free Libraries started here in Wisconsin, I believe. We pass at least a half dozen just walking around our neighborhood! Hopefully people will warm up to it as you continue on. Thanks for hosting Kid Lit Blog Hop!

  8. Congrats on your latest Frankie Dupont book! These Little Libraries are fantastic. We don't have any in our neighborhood that I know about. Maybe that's a hint! Thanks for hosting, Julie.
